Last night I mixed up my first batches of preferment with my sourdough starter!  This morning I mixed up the dough.  It didn't have bubbles like the yeast did, but it did have a different smell.  Tomorrow I will bake one of them, so we'll see if it rises.

Sadie planned the meal for tonight.  She chose Italian Meatloaf out of the Pioneer Woman's cookbook, with mint chocolate chip ice cream and hot fudge for dessert.
For the meatloaf, we used 1 pound ground beef, 1 pound ground turkey.  Also, I didn't have any "crusty Italian bread" so we used some leftover slider buns.  And we used prosciutto instead of pancetta.  It was pretty good!  I liked her version of the "ketchup" topping.

For the ice cream, we did:

Mint Chocolate Chip Ice Cream
1.5 cups heavy whipping cream
3/4 cup milk (used 2%)
1/2 t peppermint extract
1/2 cup sugar
2 drops green food coloring
about 1/4 cup dark chocolate chips, chopped

We'll see how it turns out!

UPDATE: The ice cream was really good.  It turned out to be the perfect amount for 4 servings.  Next time, I want to try chilling the fudge and mixing swirls of it into the ice cream.

The sourdough didn't rise :( It had a giant hole in it.  I also forgot to score the top.

I had mixed up 3.  The second one I used for pizza crust.  It was fine.  Just tasted like a flat bread.

The third I mixed some instant yeast into it and let it rise in the IP.  It rose, but totally overproofed.  It lost all shape.  Pretty much a total loss.  I baked it anyway.  It was solid and gummy :(((  I made it into croutons.  They were delicious - so not a total loss after all.
